How Tempus Metals Creates Cremation Jewelry: A Thoughtful, Step-by-Step Process

At Tempus Metals, every piece of cremation jewelry is created with care, intention, and respect. We understand that this is more than jewelry, it’s a deeply personal way to keep your loved one close. From the moment you place your order to the final polish, each step is designed to be simple, secure, and meaningful.

Step 1: Placing Your Order & Receiving Your Kit

Your journey begins when you place your order and request a complimentary cremation kit at checkout. Once your order is confirmed, Tempus Metals will mail your kit directly to you.

Each kit is thoughtfully prepared and includes:

·     A prepaid return envelope

·     A wooden scoop

·     A secure vessel for the remains

·     Protective bubble wrap

·     Detailed instructions

Everything you need is provided to make the process as easy and respectful as possible.

Step 2: Preparing the Cremated Remains

Using the enclosed wooden scoop, you will place approximately 1/8 teaspoon of cremated remains into the provided vessel. Only a very small amount is needed to create your piece.

Once filled, the vessel is securely closed and wrapped in the provided bubble wrap. You will then place it into the prepaid return package and send it back to us.

Step 3: Safe Arrival & Confirmation

When your package arrives at our studio, you will receive an email confirming that your loved one’s ashes have been safely received. From here, your piece begins its transformation.

Step 4: Crafting the Jewelry Base

While your kit is in transit, our team begins casting your jewelry in the metal of your choosing. Each piece is carefully cleaned and prepped to ensure a flawless foundation.

This stage is where your design begins to take physical shape.

Step 5: Preparing the Ashes

Once received, the ashes are handled with the utmost care. They are gently sifted and sorted to ensure a consistent texture, preparing them for incorporation into the design.

The ashes are then mixed with a powdered enamel color of your choice, resulting in a personalized, visually striking finish.

Step 6: Setting the Ashes into the Jewelry

Using a specialized liquid binder, the ashes and enamel mixture is carefully painted into the crevices of the jewelry casting. This step requires precision and patience, ensuring the material is evenly distributed and securely placed.

Step 7: Curing & Building Layers

Depending on your selected metal, the enamel is either cured or baked in a kiln to harden and set the material.

This process is repeated in layers—each one applied, then carefully filed and smoothed before the next layer is added. This layering technique creates depth, durability, and a refined finish.

Step 8: Final Finishing & Polishing

Once the final layer is complete, the piece undergoes a detailed finishing process. The surface is smoothed, refined, and polished to bring out the beauty of both the metal and the inlaid material.

The result is a seamless, lasting piece designed to be worn every day.

A Lasting Tribute

Every piece of cremation jewelry from Tempus Metals is made with intention—from the first step to the final polish. It is our honor to transform memory into something tangible, beautiful, and enduring.
